    British Columbia Black Bear Attack

Posted by MikeAdams on October 13, 2008

A Green Lake British Columbia man is lucky to be alive this week, after a black bear attacked him while on a hike in the woods with his dogs. Jim West was out scouting for moose for his son when he was confronted by an angry sow black bear.     The attack was near Green Lake which is about 250 miles Northeast of Vancouver, BC.  It knocked him to the ground twice while the dogs were busy trying to get at the bear. After the second knockdown he said he grabbed a large stick and began to beat it over the skull until it collapsed. He was chewed on both arms as well as the back of his head.

He made his way to a near by horse lodge and asked for help. The wildlife officials are investigating the incident and told Mr. West that he is the first known person to kill a black bear with a stick. The story and video are on the BC Local News website for further reading.

This is the kind of guy I want with me on my side in a fight!  What a story!

Man, that would be the ultimate bragging right! “You shot a 14pt buck from 300yrds, you say? I killed a bear… with a stick.” You took a buffalo with your bow you say? I killed a bear…. WITH A STICK.”
