After a quick morning bow hunt today, I had to run over to my taxidermist to drop off a Widgeon Drake that my oldest boy took this weekend. As always the trip to his shop was an experience that left me with more wisdom than what I came with. While there, I always hear the tall tales of the people who have stopped by to drop game off to be worked on as well as some new unique item or story that he has picked up since the last time I saw him. Well, I received an exciting call Friday evening from my wife as she and three of the four kids traveled up north for a weekend getaway. I stayed home with my oldest son to hunt near home this weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

It seems that the state of Michigan isn’t the only state that is having trouble with illegal baiting of deer. Here in Michigan it use to only be a problem in DMU 452 which is the TB hot zone, now it is going to be a real issue in the entire lower peninsula with the CWD baiting ban. Last night I found an article concerning the economy and how it relates to hunting licenses sold. One would think that in this tough economic times that hunting numbers would suffer. Apparently that is not the case.
