It’s In The Air

Have you noticed it yet? Are your senses heightened? It’s in the air and I can’t wait! I stepped outside yesterday morning and I could feel it immediately.
Each and every year when it happens for the first time I get all giddy!! Yes we are talking about Fall! Yesterday when I stepped outside I could feel it greet me at the door like an old long lost friend. It stuck out it’s had and offered it for me to gladly shake. When you grip it for that warm inviting hand shake your trigger finger will begin to itch and twitch. Then Fall pulls you closer and gives you a great big huge to welcome you back into the fold. When it does it is one of those “where have you been” hugs that seems to last forever. It is warm and inviting, as if to say come on out and lets get to know one another again.
Before long you are talking with Fall trying to set up a time to meet and get out and play together. It is truly like an old long lost friend. You can’t wait until you actually get out to spend time with one another. There is something about it that you can’t explain or describe, there is a certain smell and feel to it. But just like an old long lost friend, unless your wife is his friend too, she will hate to see him at the door.
Just like in previous years, you will run off with him every weekend and play. She is left at home for 3 months worth of weekends, unless she like to play also. If that is the case, Fall is a welcomed friend in the home for all to enjoy. My children have even learned to hang out with Fall, they love to spend time with him in the woods hunting and on the water shooting waterfowl.
Well I for one am glad to see Fall knocking at my door again, he is always a welcomed sight to see. We have already set up our first get together, and I for one can’t wait to meet him on the water on Labor Day morning for the opening day of Early Goose season. I’m sure he will be there early that morning as always, waiting for me at the boat launch and eagerly coaxing me to hurry up and get on the water. Fall, man am I glad to see you again, I thought you’d never get here! Yes, it’s in the air again!

I just wrote a similar post a couple of days ago. It sure is in the air, and I can’t wait for it to get here. The early do season will be here soon enough, and I will be eagerly heading out to enjoy it, bow in hand. I can’t wait.

I met with Fall the other night while sitting on my porch. It was a welcome and brisk, yet warm embrace. He is here to set up camp. I’ll bring the ammo…

I meet fall about a week ago when I walked outside on morning. My first though was that soon I will be out in the woods hunting and to me it doesn’t matter what I am hunting as long as I am out in the woods. I have to laugh becuase I hear people talking about being bummed becuase summer is about to end where as I on the other hand am like a kid in a candy store becuase it means hunting season is almost here. I love every season in Michigan but fall is by far my favorite. Now I just need everything to fall into place so that I can play with fall myself.
