Fly Tying

My son has been tying flies now for over a year. I have always wanted to have a way to show off his creations. Well recently he made 10 different flies for a friend of our out east and he displayed them on his website.
A couple of months back Bob Rich of the Bob Rich Shooting Journal sent my son Mikey some squirrel tails from the previous season for fly tying material. Mikey in return tied up 10 flies for Bob to use as a courtesy for the material. We sent out the flies this week to Bob, who got them today and posted this photo on his 
blog site for all to enjoy. He also put a link on his post to try and generate some traffic for anyone interested in purchasing any hand tied flies from Mikey.
So now I can finally show off some of his creations to everyone! If any of you are interested in any of his flies you can reach him at mikeysgamebag@upnorthjournal.com he would be more than happy to tie a few up for you, as for pricing you’ll have to contact him.
Just as a side note, he learned this skill last year at our annual NWTF Jakes event. It is amazing how a small gesture can change a kids life forever. Richard Walker from the Flint, MI planetarium gave his time last year and inspired Mikey to learn how to tie flies! Thanks Richard!
First, Mikey’s gonna have to teach me to use a fly rod…then I’ll get some flies… them, maybe, I’ll catch some fish.

That is very cool. My brother ties his own, but I haven’t learned that particular skill yet. Looks like Mikey is dang good at it too.
