Broadhead Testing & Youth Bows!
Posted by MikeAdams on July 12, 2008
Today, was a full day of fun and work at the archery range. We shot, blasted and smashed broadheads all day long!
I was somewhat shocked by the results of some of the broadheads we tested. I was also reassured by some of the broadheads we tested, and I learned a lot along the way. The biggest challenge we put the heads through was the ballistics gel test with deer bones embeded in it. I was surprised at how well this test worked! We also did accuracy and penetration tests on them. It was an eye opening experience, to see how all of the heads performed. We will be following up this week with a series of blogs on all the heads we tested and how well they did. Be sure to stop back and check out to see if your broadhead was in the test.
We also handed out the youth bows today, to start field and range testing them also. We have started out with six youths to shoot six different youth bows. They will shoot as many different bows as possible over the next several weeks and months. Eventually the youths who are old enough will take them into the field and see how they perform. If you are considering a youth bow purchase in the near future stop back in and check out the reviews. We will also post links to the video we will be shooting with these bows as well, along with company representatives to discuss their offerings.

Looking forward to the test results on the broadheads as well as the results of how well the different bows do.
I wonder if you’re testing Rage broadheads.

Hey Art it’s Matt from Compass. The Rage was not shot today but like Mike said it was a huge eye opening day. The guys from the Up North Journal did their homework and did some cool unbias testing and came prepared. I don’t want to give anything away but if you are any type of bow hunter you need to check back for the results.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up runing our tests on other brands before the summer is out…Matt, thanks again for the use of the facilities!

That was a lot of fun and I have to say some of the results were very surprising. I also had to laugh at Paul becuase he wanted to shoot the youth bow he is testing on Sunday but he was to sore to do it. I told that he will build up his muscles and have no problem shooting before he knows it. Of course his younger brother wanted to shoot it and I told him he could as long as he could pull it back. Well he tried hard to pull it back but he just couldn’t do it. Man was he bummed but his time will come soon enough.
