    Walmart Anti Fishing?

Posted by MikeAdams on May 14, 2008

According to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune on Monday of this week, Walmart is at it again.  They are now reporting that they told companies that supply fishing tackle to them, that they would be cutting back on their orders or may even remove tackle from some stores completely!  We saw this happen a couple of years ago with firearms and ammunition in their stores, now fishing tackle!  I guess good ‘ol Wally World doesn’t want our business anymore!  They have shown their true colors about how they feel towards the outdoors men of this nation.  A month or so ago I wrote a story about how Wally World is going to start tracking firearms sales at their stores, as a way to help start a gun registry program, that is at the stores where they still sell firearms, now they are cutting back on fishing tackle.  I just read a report about how much sportsmen of this country spend annually on hunting and fishing supplies, I guess Walmart doesn’t want to profit from the sale of these goods to one of the biggest spending groups in this nation.

What gets me, is that their stores are generally in rural areas or smaller cities where most sportsmen live.  Even in the larger areas where they have stores, there are still outdoors men there that need these supplies.  I guess we will have to take our business elsewhere.  I really didn’t shop there much at all before the gun registry program became an issue, but now I don’t shop there at all.  But it is still sad to see such a huge store that has traditionally supported the outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing, take a turn away from these great pastimes.  I have a feeling they will loose some customers over this one.

I can’t believe this to be honest. What are they thinking? Well, as much as it will inconvenience me, I might be done shopping at their stores.

I just don’t get this…I didn’t get it when they pulled the firearms and ammo, either. They still sell them in our local Wal-mart - but I have taken my business elsewhere already as this is just an absolute joke.

Next they’ll want to start a registry on lure and hook sales…just in case you feel like robbin a bank with a spinner or top jig.

I think that they think that becuase they are Wal-Mart that they can do whatever they want and people will still shop there. To be honest I never have bought much fishing stuff there becuase I perfer to support the local tackle store as much as I can and to be honest they really don’t have much of a selection anyways. Well I for one have taking my business other places since the gun registering deal for the most part. Gee maybe they will stop selling meat in their meat department and start calling it the Tofu department.
